Update 7/19: Over the weekend, a server-side update on Google app 12.27 curiously restored Chrome Custom Tabs and that change has persisted with the latest 12.28 beta. That changed in recent days as the built-in version is currently rolled out again. Update 8/1: For a two-week period, Chrome Custom Tabs remained for users of the Google app beta. Update 9/16: With this week’s 12.36 beta, the Google app has reverted to Chrome Custom Tabs again. Update 9/21: Version 12.37 gets rid of Chrome Custom Tabs again. After being widely rolled out to the beta channel for the past few months, it has disappeared and reverted to Chrome Custom Tabs. Google has been working on an in-app browser for Search on Android for quite sometime now.
